Hominy Valley is a non-profit youth league organization that was formed in the early 1960’s to assist in the growth and development of the children in and around the Enka/Candler (Hominy Valley) community. Generation after generation the league has continued to teach and develop our children while providing them with a safe and loving environment, away from the many negative influences our society has grown to know. Hominy Valley is a place where every child can learn, not only "how to play a sport", but how to become physically, mentally, and emotionally stronger through the encouragement they receive as participates in our programs. They learn to function as a team as well as reap the benefits of working hard to be the best they can be. Our efforts with these children influence them for the rest of their lives: the choices they make, the friendships they maintain, and the people they become as they develop into maturing teens and young adults.
Since the leagues inception, it has been solely managed and funded through the efforts of local volunteers and receives no financial assistance from Buncombe County Parks and Recreation.
